Scale Steering – Round 7 Shepton Mallet "Drifters" MBC

The decision to have the replacement round in October was always in the lap of the Gods with the weather. It caught up with us it was wet and very breezy and consequently the chill factor began to bite.

The course was very challenging and no clear rounds were recorded, it was agreed owing to the conditions that only 2 rounds would be completed. There were 17 competitors on the day which is more than we could have expected considering the forecasts.

In the Pilot Class there were 4 competitors and Rebecca Tiley continued her winning ways with her brother Mark 2nd and Sue Hunt 3rd.

Small Class had 4 entries and the Kerrs, John & Jean took 1st and 2nd with Gorden Tiley in 3rd.

Medium Class had 5 boats and it was the return of the Poulter’s with Chris & Jamie actually sharing the win with Danny Harris in 3rd.

Large Class had 4 entries and was won by Steve Brabant with John Kerr 2nd and Mike Knight in 3rd.

My thanks go to Steve & Carol Cox, Maurice Edwards, Sue Hunt and Tony Brooks for their assistance. I would also like to thank all the clubs that have hosted a round this year and everybody who has assisted and we now look forward to the 2009 season.
