SWAMBC YACHT RACING CHAMPIONSHIPS - The Rules
Entry
1.Open only to members of Club’s affiliated to SWAMBC. All entrants must have third party public liability insurance cover or a membership card if their Club has insurance for its members.
2.£2.00 entry fee per boat (you may enter any 2 of the 3 classes) at each round to meet cost of prizes.
Alternate sets of crystals are recommended to avoid clashes.
Classes.
3. This series is for Yachts in the following 3 classes (mono hulls only).
The OOD will assess on the day, depending on number of entrants for each class if joint class races will be held.
The 65 Class
Yacht hull to measure up to a maximum overall length of 65cms.
(Eligible yachts include: Fiesta, Sunrise 24, Fortune 612, Micro Magic & HFM 590 & 575 etc)
The 100+ Class
Yacht hull to measure over 100cms (Eligible yachts include Laser, Estelle etc)
The IOM Class – International One Metre.
Any Yacht conforming to the One Metre Class rules 2007.
Modifications are allowed to the yachts with regards to standing, running rigging and sails. If a Yacht is not listed above (ie Wee Nip) you will be allocated to an appropriate class by the meeting OOD.
4.All yachts must have sail numbers. If you require a number contact the Comp’ Yacht Sec’.
Format
5.Five meetings from April to September. Your worst score from any one of the meetings will be discarded.
6.Booking in from 9.30am, skippers briefing 10am, first race 10.30am, no race will start after 4.30pm.
7.The number of boats in each heat, number of races etc, will be decided on the day by the OOD.
8.The “Five Basic Sailing Rules” will apply at all times. They are: the port tack/starboard rule, buoy room rule, contact with buoy rule, luffing rights rule and the collision rule.
